So called Christian based publishers are looking for one thing, to separate you from your money, don’t fall for it. Getting a book published is a daunting task. Here are a few tips. Stay away from any who ask for money up front, don’t take rejections personally, learn how to write a proper synopsis of your book and how to compose a good query letter to an agent or publisher. Have someone proof read your manuscript after you have done all you can to correct errors in spelling and punctuation. Go to a book store and find books of the same genre as yours, list the publishers of those books and start with them, be prepared for a long process but don’t give up. Purchase a "Literary Guide" which is available at most major book stores. Most, it not all, publishers work through agents who represent people wanting to be published. The Literary Guide will provide listings for hundreds of agents and explain their requirements for submitting manuscripts, etc. as well as the area of publication for various publishing companies. Literary agents will not represent you unless they think they can make money off your work. I know you have an interest in publishing your collection of poems and while I would not discourage you, I will tell you that poetry is a very hard sell. There are many "vanity" type publishing companies who will publish whatever you hand them, but they are basically printing companies and will charge you like any other printing job they do and leave the selling of your work up to you. If the idea is to turn a profit, beware of the vanity type companies. References :
