“The Power And The Myth” was supposed to be the REUNION album for House Of Lords. The album released in 2004 portrayed a completely different musical direction from previous releases. James Christian however; gave the lame excuse in an interview in www.melodicrock.com that their label didn’ want them playing proggressive rock and that this album sounded nothing like HOL. According to my sources, singer James Christian was working with other musicians and for the new album he CANNED the whole band. What a shame.
But anyrate, this is a fine record but dont expect PLEASURE PALACE PART II

Mysterious Coded Documents, Buried Treasure, Abbé Saunier, Curé of Rennes, and the mysterious deaths of priests in the Aude.
Rennes-le-Château is a small village perched on a hilltop near Couiza in the Aude departement of the Languedoc-Roussillon. It has become world famous in the last few years following the publication of a series of books dealing with a mystery concerning a nineteenth century priest who lived in the village.
At the heart of the mystery is the fact that the priest (Abbé Bérenger Saunière) suddenly become immensely rich during the 1880s. There are a few interesting aspects of the mystery, such as where his money came from, but improbable theories have been built on a few known facts and shorn up by mass of demonstrable falsehoods. Over the last twenty years a series of best-selling books have been published, each proposing a more fantastic theory than its predecessors.
Saunier probably made his money by robbing ancient graves. (One of the few reliable facts about Rennes-le-Château is that it was once a large Visigothic city with a population of 20,000 or even 30,000, so it is is not impossible that he found a trove of treasure, perhaps while restoring his Church). Although Saunier probably made his money by robbing graves or selling masses, much more popular theories are that he:
discovered a cache of treasure from Solomon’s Temple in Jerusalem, perhaps including the Ark of the Covenant, brought to Carcassonne by the visigoths and later hidden at RLC.
discovered a cache of treasure hidden by the Cathars who escaped from Montsegùr in 1244.
discovered a cache treasure buried by the Knights Templars.
discovered a cache of treasure of the Lords of Rennes.
Discovered a cache of treasure from the Kingdom of Majorca.
Discovered some hidden item of great value (such as the Holy Grail or Charlemagne’s sword).
discovered Gnostic Gospels documents relating to the Early Christian Church so damaging to the Roman Catholic Churc that the Vatican paid a fortune to suppress them.
Many of the theories revolve around a theory that the artist Nicholas Poussin was party to some great secret, and that he encoded information about it in his paintings – notably the painting known as the Shepherds in Arcadia. According to some the painting was done in the Languedoc, with Rennes-le-Château in the background.

During the Renaissance Age, perfection and rationality were the center of the artistical life and Music wasn’t an exception to this rule. Althought the Venetian School had been a great importance in developing instrumental Music, a modern concept of “melody” with Monteverdi’s “accompaigned monody” and tonal harmony, the Roman and expecially the French-Flemish Schools gave us the archetype of counterpointal and modal Music. As it had been deservedly celebrated during his life, Johannes Ockeghem (AD 1410 – 1497) is still considered one of the most talented Composers of this period. In antithesis with Machaut and De Vitry’s Isothytmic writing, Ockeghem opted for a rich, fluent writing, where every voice is called to unfold a dynamic musical stream. As it was praxis, the “Ecce Ancilla Domine” Mass is full of mathematical allusions to Christian Theology and ‘geometrical’ constructive forms. For example, all constructive elements of the Mass could be divided for 5 (the ‘Holy Virgin Mary’s Number’) and the relationship between notes and rests in the Tenor part is a perfect 2:3. ______________________________
We haven’t steady elements to reconstruct the exact way to perform Medieval and Renaissace Music. In particular, Sacred Music is generally considere as only vocal, but probably in large Cathedrals, expecially during the most solemn occasions, these Works were performed by more than one Singer for part and the possibility of an instrumental doubling for every part couldn’t be excluded. Powerful wind instruments such as the double-reeded bombardons and dulcians (the ancestors of oboe and bassoon) and brass instruments such as cornetts and sacque-boutes took part in court ensembles and probably they found a Lithurgical employ too.

This is the “Doris Day” version of Thank You For The Music, which was recorded in June 1977 with a ragtime arrangement. Agnetha finds her vocal interpretation by imitating American singer Doris Day. The rest of the group contributed intricate backing vocals. After this initial recording, Abba did not feel that they had captured Thank You For The Music correctly. They decided to start again and finally hit upon the arrangement and feel that we all know, which was right for the song. The familiar version was then released, while this first “Doris Day” version languished in the vaults for 17 years until it was rediscovered and released on the cd “Abba – The Album” as a bonus track.
